Every TV station I flip to have new hit reality TV shows. You hear more hype about reality TV shows than sitcom shows these days.

Yes, there are popular sitcoms like Glee and Modern Family, but reality shows like the Bachelor, American Idol, The Real Housewives of “Practically Every City” and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (just to name a few) are sweeping the networks.

I’m wondering, are production companies coming up with reality TV shows because they have lost their sitcom creativity?

Reality TV “supposedly” shows real life situations that can be very entertaining for people. For example, ABC is on its 8th season of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition because people are so touched by the life changing experience that struggling families get by being rewarded with a brand new home.

Now, the reason why I say “supposedly” is because there are also shows like BRAVO TV’s The Real Housewives (which I love). Some TV critics refuse to watch reality shows like these because they say that they are pointless.

In my opinion I think we can learn from reality shows like the Real Housewives because it shows the not so glamorous side to these rich women’s life. Many of these women live by the saying more money, more problems!

Because these people sign on to reality TV they are constantly in the  public eye and they have gained so much attention from the media.
