Like the Ernst & Young example that the authors gave in the groundswell in chapter 6 about engaging in social networks, Einstein Bros. Bagels don’t shout at their customers, they talk.

Some of the Einstein Bros. Bagels employees make it their job to update their Facebook and Twitter pages and also answer any questions that their customers may have. Currently, 627,360 people “like” their Facebook page. Their Twitter page is also popular, but not quite as active as their Facebook page with only 1,056 followers.

Einstein Bros. Bagels does an awesome job at attracting fans to their Facebook page and keeping them active!

The company posts coupons on their Facebook page every month advertising a free item, and then they link it to their Twitter account. The coupon for the month of February is: receive a free bagel thin single and light shmear with any beverage purchase!

Over the summer, they had a running coupon where you could get a free bagel every time you came into the shop, no purchase necessary. It was the most amazing thing!

They don’t even put limits on how many coupons you can print out, so my mom and I would go get a bagel and coffee every Monday and Friday!

I learned about the Einstein Bros. Bagels Facebook page from visiting a friends Facebook and seeing that she was a fan of the bagel company on her news feed. I have been a fan ever since and I continuously spread the word about their page to my friends and family who enjoy bagels just as much as I do!
